Oil Treatment
OIL TREATMENT of solid beech, oak, cherry and walnut:

The treatment described below will fill out the pores of the wood. The result will be surface that is smoother and more resistant to dirt than untreated wood.

Types of oil:
We recommend Proterra oil. When the table left our factory, it had been treated with this type of hardening oil made of sunflower seed oil and dry matter. (Painting code 00-1 = non-hazardous.) Proterra oil is available from your furniture dealer. There are also other types of oil available for hard woods. If you choose to use these, follow the instructions on the package carefully. We recommend hardening oils.

Application:
Apply the oil evenly with a soft cloth or a sponge in a very thin layer in the direction of the grain. The oil will harden after approximately 24 hours. You can then polish the table with a dry cloth. If necessary, use 220-240 grain sandpaper. Never sand with steel wool!

Daily Care:
Stains can be removed with a cloth wrung out in warm water. Remove stubborn stains with detergent; if necessary, sand lightly. After sanding, discolouring can occur. However, this discolouring will quickly disappear after being treated with oil again and standing in the light.

Care:
You can treat with oil again as necessary.

Warning! Cloth containing oil can ignite on its own. Therefore, cloths used for applying oil should either be burned or soaked in water and packed into aluminium foil before you discard them.
