Wood
WOOD – NATURE’S OWN MATERIAL

In Denmark, the use of wood in furniture manufacturing is based on old and sturdy traditions; traditions that, in turn, are based on design and proven table-building skills. Wood is a tradition – it is a material we know like the palms of our hands and which can be put to any number of uses.

Wood is also expensive; not so strange when you stop to consider that a tree has to grow for about 100 years before it can be used in furniture manufacturing.

An example of the costs incurred when working with wood is the American cherry we use in our production. First, it is logged in forests that are difficult to reach. Then it is cut into lumber and shipped across continents and oceans before we even begin work on it.
As a manufacturer, we are aware of our great responsibility for the resources we use. For generations, wood has been man’s faithful servant. Therefore, we feel an obligation to make sure that new planting is always greater than timber felling in the forests where we get our wood.

Only in this manner can we ensure that coming generations will also have the opportunity to respect wood. Here in Europe, where we buy a great deal of the wood we use, there is a net growth in new plantings.

Wood is a beautiful and living material. With proper care, it will maintain its sheen and attractive qualities for many years to come. In fact, the older it gets, the better it looks.
